What Is Sculptra®?

Sculptra is a long-lasting treatment for people looking to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds. It is the first facial injectable that gives you subtle results over time. Sculptra replaces lost collagen, giving you a more natural-looking appearance. It is composed of tiny beads of a synthetic material that can be broken down by the body – the same material that has been widely used for more than 25 years in dissolvable stitches and other surgical products.

What Results Can I Expect With Sculptra®?

Following your treatments, you can expect to see a more natural, younger-looking appearance that can last up to two years. Sculptra will not correct the underlying cause of the facial fat loss, but it will help improve the appearance by increasing skin thickness in the treated area.

What Should I Expect During Treatment?

A Vitalogy Medical Spa Provider will have an in-depth consultation with you to understand your concerns, goals, and determine the best treatment plan for your specific needs. The number of injections required to achieve your desired results will be determined by your provider.

Sculptra® is administered in a series of treatment sessions. Each treatment takes around 30 minutes and involves using a very fine needle to inject the product directly into the lower layers of the skin. A topical or local anesthetic can be provided to minimize discomfort, if needed.

The number of necessary injections depends on many factors. On average, three injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months. It is important to return for all treatment sessions as instructed in order to get the maximum effect from the gradual process of collagen replacement.

After your treatment you will be provided with post-care instructions, and should be able to resume your normal activities. The injections are not considered painful, although a topical or local aesthetic may be applied before treatment to maximize the comfort of the patient.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Immediately following a treatment session, redness, pain, bruising or all of these signs can happen in the treatment area. These signs usually go away in a few hours to a few days. Patients should also avoid excessive sunlight, and use an ice pack to help to reduce common swelling.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is virtually no downtime, and you can return to your normal daily activities including work.
