A chemical peel is a procedure where a chemical solution, usually acids that are food or fruit-based, is applied to the skin to remove the top layer. The skin that heals back will be smoother and more evenly textured. Different intensities of chemical peels are used, depending on what you are trying to accomplish. As the intensity of the peel increases, you can expect a more extended downtime.

Light Exfoliation Peels

Glycolic acid peel exfoliates, hydrates, and brightens skin. It can also be used to treat melasma.

Salicylic acid peel encourages the shedding of skin and shrinks pores. It is ideal for patients with oily skin because it is fat and oil-soluble, allowing it to penetrate more effectively. Salicylic acid also improves skin tone, texture, and clarity for acne sufferers while lightening surface scarring. Salicylic acid works well for sensitive skin because of its anti-inflammatory properties.

TCA Peel

A TCA Peel (trichloroacetic acid peel) is our strongest peel available because it results in a deeper depth of peeling. We offer 10%, 15%, or 20% TCA strengths. Due to the intensity of the TCA peel, you can expect three to seven days of downtime after your treatment. It can fade acne scars, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and remove shallow blemishes.

Jessner Peel

The Jessner is used to treat normal to oily skin, acne, and sun-damaged skin. It is generally considered a medium-level peel containing 14% of each acid, salicylic, lactic, and resorcinol. The depth of this peel is determined by the number of layers applied during application and the skin’s tolerance level. We recommended that new users begin with one to three layers for a light or medium peel. Generally, four to six layers will result in a medium to deep peel, and seven to eight layers can result in a deep peel. The distinct blend of acids works in synergy to combat hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and rough texture to reveal vibrant, glowing skin.

The Jessner solution may make your skin red and give it a frosting appearance during application. In some cases, the treatment will have a temporary numbing effect. The skin may appear red or dark for several days while recovering. Breakouts may also occur after peeling. This reaction is normal due to the pores cleansing and bringing debris to the surface. Your skin should begin to balance out within a few weeks, leading to clearer and less oily skin. Downtime will vary depending on how many layers are applied.
