AUSTIN, March 17, 2026 – Alok Vij, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon with Vitalogy Skincare, has been named a 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctor, recognizing him among the most outstanding physicians in the United States.
Published annually by Castle Connolly, the Top Doctors list highlights physicians who demonstrate excellence in clinical care and leadership within their specialties. The selection process is peer-driven, beginning with nominations from physicians and healthcare professionals across the country. Castle Connolly’s physician-led research team then evaluates nominees based on criteria including professional achievements, education and training, hospital appointments, research contributions, and overall reputation among peers. Only a small percentage of physicians nationwide receive this distinction each year.
Dr. Vij’s recognition reflects his dedication to advancing dermatologic care and improving patient outcomes.
Originally from Brenham, Texas, Dr. Vij spent much of his youth in the Houston area and attended Saint John’s School before graduating with honors from the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, then completed his dermatology residency and a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at the renowned Cleveland Clinic.
Following his training, Dr. Vij remained on staff at the Cleveland Clinic for more than eight years, where he served as Director of the Dermatology Residency Program and Section Head of Teledermatology. He also held the rank of Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Vij’s research focuses on skin cancer, including melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, as well as emerging technologies that improve patient care and access to dermatologic services. His work has been published in leading medical journals and presented at national and international dermatology conferences.
In addition to his clinical and research contributions, Dr. Vij has served on committees with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American College of Mohs Surgery.
